What is Project Cargo?
Project cargo refers to the domestic or international transportation of massive, heavy-lift, or high-value equipment that exceeds standard container limits. Successful project cargo shipping goes beyond simple freight booking; it requires complex project cargo logistics, meticulous engineering, and specialized project cargo handling (such as breakbulk, Ro-Ro, or air chartering).
To execute these critical moves safely and on time, industries rely on an experienced project forwarder equipped with a global project cargo network to manage the end-to-end transport plan.
How We Handle Project Cargo: The CNS Commitment
Cargo-First Planning
Every shipment is planned around the cargo itself — its size, weight, handling requirements, and transport conditions. Instead of forcing cargo into a standard process, we focus on choosing the solution that fits the shipment best.
Closer Control for Special Cargo
Oversized cargo, dangerous goods, and other special shipments leave less room for error. We stay focused on the details that affect safety, compliance, and coordination, so the cargo moves forward under better control.
End-to-End Execution
Guided by the principle of “Safety, Professionalism, and Speed,” we provide support from booking, customs declaration, and handling to transportation and real-time tracking.
Integrated Logistics Services for Your Project Cargo
Bulky Cargo Transportation
When cargo is too large, too heavy, or too difficult for standard container shipping, the transport plan needs to change. This service is built for over-length, over-width, over-height, and over-weight shipments that require a more suitable handling and shipping arrangement.
Project Cargo Transportation
Project cargo is not just about moving freight — it is about matching the shipment to the actual project requirements. As part of CNS’s bulky cargo capability, this service is suitable for large equipment, engineering-related shipments, and cargo that needs more careful planning than a routine booking.
Special Container Solutions
Some cargo needs a more suitable transport arrangement than a standard setup can provide. As part of its bulky cargo service, CNS includes special container transportation for shipments that require more appropriate loading conditions and a better fit for the cargo itself.
IMO Cargo Transportation
For chemicals and dangerous goods, the key is not only delivery, but compliant delivery. CNS supports transportation for paints, ethanol, sulfuric acid, batteries, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and other regulated cargo through air freight, sea freight, and chemical express services.
Cargo Air Chartering
When cargo is urgent, oversized, or too heavy for standard container limits, chartering provides more flexibility. CNS defines this service as renting all or part of an aircraft’s cargo space for shipments such as large machinery, engineering equipment, automobiles, and medical supplies.
Financial Service
Some shipments also depend on smoother capital turnover and trade support. CNS offers short- and medium-term financing together with services such as letters of credit, import and export bills, payment advances, duty and VAT advances, and multiple settlement methods.
Recent Cargo Cases
When the cargo is oversized, regulated, time-sensitive, or tied to a larger project, clients do not just need space — they need a shipping plan that fits the cargo, the route, and the delivery schedule.

Soybean Crushing Plant from China to Santos, Brazil
In April 2023, a 4,000 MTPD Soybean Crushing Plant was transported from China to Santos, Brazil. The shipment included 35 packages, with a total weight of 600 MT and volume of 3,900 CBM. Because of the cargo’s large size and limited inland transportation conditions, direct loading by barge and mother vessel was used to complete the port gathering and loading process smoothly.

Lithium Battery Packs from Shenzhen to Rotterdam
A dangerous goods logistics case involved 97 tons of lithium battery packs, with each pack measuring 2.5 × 1.5 × 1 meter. The cargo moved from Shenzhen to Rotterdam mainly by sea, with emergency air freight used for replenishment. The shipment used IMO standard explosion-proof packaging, professional lashing calculations, and full-process insurance coverage to meet the compliance requirements of a European new energy project.

Engineering Vehicle Clusters from Tianjin to Buenos Aires
A Ro-Ro shipment moved 20 engineering vehicles, each weighing 50 tons and measuring 12 × 4 × 4 meters, from Tianjin Port to Buenos Aires. The cargo was transported by roll-on/roll-off vessel, with customized deck fixing brackets and anti-displacement solutions used inside the ship’s cargo hold. According to the company, this achieved zero waiting time at the port and saved 15 days compared with traditional general cargo vessel transportation.
